Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Arrests
When you receive a DWI, whether you gave a breathalyzer sample or not, it is important to remember that time is of the essence. You MUST do the following as quickly as possible:
Contact your attorney immediately. In Louisiana, you only have fifteen (15) days to contest the suspension of your drivers’ license with the Louisiana Office of Public Safety/Department of Motor Vehicles. After that time, your drivers’ license may be suspended for up to a year, whether or not you win your court case on the DWI itself. Your attorney needs time to evaluate the case, obtain the police report, talk to the DA, and generally prepare for trial if necessary.
Christy M. Howley has experience with DWIs in many parishes across Louisiana, and her initial forty-five minute (45) consultation is free. She would be happy to discuss your case with you, as long as you have not hired another attorney yet, free of charge.
In addition to DWIs, Ms. Howley also handles traffic ticket defense and criminal defense work. Contact her for more details.
